Does growing old mean the end of love? On a ballroom dance floor, seven elderly men and women speak openly about love, intimacy, and sexuality, directly challenging taboos about aging. Drawing on verbatim testimonies gathered from seniors between the ages of 75 to 102, La vie secrète des vieux (The Secret Life of Old People), described by The Guardian as "gallows humor and unzipped ribaldry... joyful, tender and sometimes eye-watering,” is a humorous and deeply moving documentary theater work that constructs a lucid and disarming portrait of the reinvention of desire. French-Moroccan artist Mohamed El Khatib, a leading voice in international theater, maps a landscape of longing and gives proof to the promise that love can find a home within the fragility of life, right up to the last moment.
