New commission by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts

For the must-see opening night performance of Summer for the City, Lincoln Center presents a sparkling new commission from director James Blaszko that unites the beauty of opera and the fabulosity of drag, paying homage to the queerness and gender expansion present in both. Soundcake marks the debut duet of two superstar queens from the blockbuster reality competition RuPaul's Drag Race—All-Star champion Monét X Change and current season competitor Sapphira Cristál—singing a repertoire of time-tested standards and original pieces that reflect their personal journeys across classical vocal training to superstardom. Monét and Sapphira will be joined by the Queen of Classical Music, Drag Race alumna and violinist Thorgy Thor, and further supported by a flawless, begowned orchestra conducted by David Bloom. Cancel whatever else you had on your calendar; you'll never forgive yourself if you miss Soundcake.
